Canal St. Martin

הספירה לאחור החלה. נותרו לי רק יומיים בפריז לפני היציאה המיוחלת לחופשה בדרום צרפת. כמו בכל ביקור אני מנהלת רשימה פנימית של מקומות שעליי לראות לפני החזרה. אחד האהובים עליי הוא טיול על גדת תעלת סן מרטין אי שם ברובע העשירי. הסיבוב המהנה הזה קורה רק בביקורים ארוכים מהרגיל היות ופיסת השלווה הזו מרוחקת ביותר ומבודדת. אז היות והפעם זכיתי בשבועיים שלמים בעיר האורות, גררתי את אמא לאורך כל קו מטרו 2 -אל התעלה.

The countdown has begun. Only 2 days left in Paris before I leave to my vacation in the south of France. Everytime I visit the city I try to keep up my usual to do/see list. One of my favorite trips is to Canal st. Martin in the 10th Quarter. This last one happens rarerly for it is kind of isolated. So as I have 2 weeks this time I decided to drag mommy through the entire metro line no 2 to the canal.

הנטישה של חודש אוגוסט הורגשה היטב אך למזלי חנות ספרי האמנות והעיצוב (יקרה להחריד אפשר רק לדפדף) היתה פתוחה ומזמינה.

Most of the boutiques were deserted, August you know, still my favorite Art and Design bookstore remained open (super expensive beware).

אף על פי שאני ספוגת מוזיאונים עוד מברלין (פוסט בנושא מתבשל במערכת) לא יכולתי לוותר על תערוכת רטרוספקטיבה של "Madame Grés", מעצבת אופנה מיתולוגית, שמציגה ב- "Musee Bourdelle" עד ה-28 באוגוסט.
כ-80 דגמים מוצגים במקביל לאוסף הפסלים הקבוע של המוזיאון, פרט אשר מוסיף להרמונייה של התערוכה ולרגע גורם לי לשכוח שהשמלות הארוכות והכמו-מיתולוגיות האלו כאן בהשאלה.
מאדאם גרה החלה את דרכה בלימוד עצמי של מקצוע התפירה. בשנת 1934, תחת השם "מדמואזל אליס", הקריירה של גרה מתעוררת לאחר תפירת תלבושות להצגה ידועה, חשיפה בתערוכה בינ"ל וקבלת פרס הוט קוטור. בשנת 1935 נולד בית האופנה שלה בשם "מאדאם גרה". הסגנון הייחודי שיצרה מאופיין בקפלי פליסה בעבודת יד שידועים עד היום כ"Plis Grés". לעומת יוצרות אחרות, לא לבשה מעולם את הפריטים שעיצבה וסגנונה האישי כלל חולצות צווארון עגול וטורבן לראשה.

I thaught I had enough of museums since Berlin but I just could'nt say no to the retrospective of "Madame Grés", a mythological fashion designer, showing at Musee Bourdelle until August 28th. 

Self-educated, in 1934 she creats the costumes for a famous play, then takes part in an international fair and wins a Haute Couture prize. A year later in 1935 she launches her own label "Madame Grés".

The designs feature special hand made folds known as "Pli Grés". Unlike other Fashion designers, she never wore her own designs, her personal style was turtle neck shirts and Turbans.

לאחר המוזיאון, המשכנו באווירה היסטורית לבית הקברות המפורסם Pere Lachaise בו קבורות אושיות שונות מעברה של העיר ממולייר ועד אדית פיאף. בית הקברות עצום בגודלו, משובץ קברים עתיקים ונטושים ועליהם מטפסת ירוקת מלפני מאות שנים - תפאורה מושלמת לסצנת אימה...

Later today we toured the well known "Pere Lachaise" Cemetery, where big artists are buried, from Moliere to Edith Piaf. The place is huge and full of creapy ancient graves - perfect backround for a horror scene...

Finally Sunny

התעוררנו לבוקר יום ראשון שטוף שמש והחלטנו לאכול צהריים ברובע השלישי. לא פשוט למצוא מקום שפתוח אך לא מפוצץ בתיירים ביום ראשון והאזור שנקרא "Haut Marais" בהחלט עושה את העבודה. טיול ברחובות השקטים שסביב עיריית הרובע מוביל לשוק מקורה נחבא בשם: Le Marche des enfants rouges.(שוק הילדים האדומים-קצת מטריד אני מסכימה) כאן תוכלו להתפנק בארוחת בוקר/ברנץ' במגוון סגנונות מאוכל אורגני ועד קוסקוס אלוהי באווירה צעירה וצבעונית.

We woke up to a sunny Sunday morning and decided to check out the "Haut Marais" (3rd Quarter), as there are few spots open yet not full of tourists on Sundays. If you seek Breakfast or Brunch "Le marche des enfants rouges" is the place for you. A hidden Market with different types of food stands from Organic to devine Couscous.

צמוד לשוק באחת הפינות יצרו דיירי השכונה גינת ירק שיתופית. יחד הם מחליטים מה לשתול ומתחלקים ביבול האורגני. מצאנו שם אגסים, עלי רוקט, פרחי קישואים ואפילו שיח פטל. בהחלט עושה חשק!

In one of the corners of the market, a group of the neighbors created a collective garden. Together they decide what to plant and then share the organic fruits and vegetables. Inspiring! 

אחרי כל זה טיילנו בסמטאות, פשפשנו בעתיקות בכמה דוכנים ברחוב Rue de Bretagne ולסיום ישבנו על ספסל בפארק ועיכלנו את הקוסקוס. שיהיה שבוע מצוין לכולם!

After all that we walked around, looked into antiques in the little flee market on "rue de Bretagne" and finaly sat on a bench in the parc and digested the Couscous. Have a lovely week everybody!
